Content NoteIncludes: Handwritten letter from Captain W D Cameron Newstead, asking whether Étaples Cemetery was still in existence and under British supervision, and explaining that his wife had a duty to perform at the grave of her father, Brigadier General MacInnes, 18 July 1948; reply from F Tyrrell, IWGC Secretary, informing him that the cemetery was still maintained by Commission personnel, 21 August 1948; letter from the W P L Arnott, Chief Administrative Officer (France), to the Chief Enquiries Officer, stating that a letter had been received from the Head Gardener of the Étaples group explaining that Captain Newstead and his wife had visited the cemetery and scattered ashes from an urn, 6 October 1948.
