Content NoteIncludes: Handwritten letter from his mother Mrs Anni Burt, enquiring why the headstone was in poor condition and whether it was her responsibility to maintain it, undated but received by Ministry of Pensions on 18 September 1953; letter from the Chief Administrative Officer, UK District, to the Inspector for the Northern Region, asking for a condition report on the headstone, 5 October 1953; letter from F Tyrell, IWGC Secretary, to Mrs Burt, assuring her that the Commission was responsible for the maintenance of the grave and headstone, and when a condition report was received he would write again, 6 October 1953; letter from F Tyrell to Mrs Burt, informing her that the headstone did need attention but would be dealt with the following year in the usual cycle of maintenance, 30 October 1953; handwritten letter from Mrs Burt, pointing out that nothing had been done to improve the condition of the headstone and the name was illegible, and that she would like to see it cleaned before her own death, undated but received by Ministry of Pensions on 25 September 1954 and passed to the IWGC on 7 October 1954; letter from F Tyrell to Mrs Burt, informing her that the headstone over her son's grave had been replaced, 5 July 1955.
