Hoare, relative of the casualty, to the CWGC Director-General explaining that William Ames, friend of the casualty, who had previously looked after the grave of Captain Hoare, was no longer able to do so, and that a fund of £400 had been provided towards the maintenance and placing flowers on the grave on 1 January, Easter, 31 July, and 19 December, and enquiring whether the Commission would accept a transfer of the funds for the upkeep of the grave, dated 4 April 1960; letter from A.R.C. Prentis to H.P.R. Hoare explaining that the Commission were unable to accept a contribution for the sole purpose of maintaining an individual grave, but accepted donations towards the upkeep of all graves and that the Commission would maintain Captain Hoare’s grave in perpetuity, and that arrangements for the placing of wreaths could be made with the British Legion, dated 21 April 1960; handwritten letter from W. Ames to the CWGC Director-General explaining that the funds were to be used towards the placing of wreaths of Captain Hoare’s grave four times a year, dated 20 March 1961; letter from A.R.C. Prentis to W. Ames stating that the Commission were only able to place wreaths on Captain Hoare’s grave if the wreaths were sent to them or funds were sent at certain times of year for the express purpose of purchasing wreaths, dated 18 July 1963.
