DescriptionFile of correspondence concerning the grave of Lieutenant Colonel Ian Graham Hogg DSO in Haramont Communal Cemetery, Villers-Cotterets, France. Early correspondence concerns the granting of a perpetual concession for the grave in 1914 and its marking by a private memorial by the brother of the casualty, Douglas McGarel Hogg KC (First Viscount Hailsham). Correspondence dated 1932 between Lord Hailsham and Sir Fabian Ware regarding the maintenance of Lieutenant Colonel Hogg's grave and agreement that the Commission would ensure the grave would not be disturbed when French military graves were exhumed from the cemetery in December 1932. Correspondence in 1971 with Sir John Hogg regarding the maintenance of his uncle's grave.

Copy letter from Regional DIrector for Northern Region explaining a gift of money to the village was made in 1914 for the maintenance of the grave and for a scholarship in respect of village schoolchildren and possible courses of action for the future exhumation/continued maintenance of the grave, with enclosed photographs and plan, dated 7 October 1971.
