Penn, had not been attended to for two or three years, dated 12 July 1956; letter from the Area Superintendent, Eastern Area, to the Chief Administrative Officer, UK District, reporting that the grave of Private Clarke was in fair order, while the grave of Private Penn had been completely neglected, likely due to a lack of interest on the part of the former Vicar, and that arrangements with the new Vicar, Reverend Sear, were made to clean the graves and ensure their future maintenance, dated 10 August 1956; handwritten letter from Mrs. C.C. Collier, widow of the casualty, to the CWGC enquiring if additional internments in the grave were possible and whether the grass in the vicinity of the grave could be cut, dated 16 May 1960; letter from the Regional Director, UK Region, to the Director General, Director of External Relations and Records, regarding assurances from Reverend Bishop Otter Barry of Norton Vicarage that the grave of Private Clarke would be maintained, dated 14 June 1960. |
