Description	File of correspondence concerning the grave of Second Lieutenant Patrick Miller Bourke in Dantzig Alley British Cemetery, Mametz, and the allocation of funds left in a will by his late father in the form of a Trust contributing towards the Commission’s work in maintaining war graves. Correspondence notifying casualty’s next of kin regarding Second Lieutenant Bourke’s burial on the Mametz-Montauban road one mile from Mametz. Correspondence concerning next of kin’s request for a photograph of the grave. Correspondence notifying next of kin of Second Lieutenant Bourke’s burial in Dantzig Alley and the marking of the grave with a wooden cross. Correspondence regarding next of kin’s request for the wooden cross marking Bourke’s grave to be sent to them. Correspondence regarding funds received to place a wreath on Bourke’s grave and funds left by the casualty’s late father for the keeping and planting of Bourke’s grave by the Commission. Further correspondence regarding the last will left by Bourke’s father in connection with funds left for the care of Second Lieutenant Bourke’s grave in Dantzig Alley British Cemetery. Correspondence regarding widow’s wishes for a wreath to be placed on the grave three times annually. Correspondence regarding funds received under the terms of the will of the late Mr Bourke to be paid to the Cure of Fricourt-Mametz for the benefit of a deserving widow. Later correspondence and receipts for funds received from the Bourke Trust for the care and maintenance of war graves by the Commission.
Content Note	Includes: Handwritten letter from casualty’s sister requesting a photograph of the grave on behalf of their parents who were living in South Africa and providing coordinates of the grave, dated 7 October 1916. Internal note explaining that the personal inscription to be inscribed on Bourke’s grave had been sent in by his father, dated 17 January 1924. Copy note written by Sir Fabian Ware explaining that he knew Bourke’s father during his time in South Africa and that is difficult to carry out Mr Bourke’s wishes as the grave was already planted and being cared by the Commission, dated 24 October 1927. Letter from Ingpen advising on action to take in response to the will of the late Mr Bourke, dated 14 November 1927.
