Description	File of correspondence regarding the grave of Gunner Horace Vero Thorn in Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension. Main topics include request from the casualty’s sister for a photograph of Gunner Thorn’s grave and further request from the sister to have a wreath of fresh flowers (Tulips, Carnations, Wallflowers and Iris) and accompanying card placed on Gunner Thorn’s grave for Easter Sunday 1933. Later request from next of kin for a wreath of flowers or holly and a card to be placed on Gunner Thorn’s grave for 11 December 1936 as this was his birthday, with response from Commission explaining a wreath of fresh flowers was placed on the grave on 11 December. Request from next of kin for a wreath and card to be placed on the grave on 19 December 1937, with response confirming wreath placed on grave and providing brief description of the condition of the grave. Request from next of kin for a wreath of holly to be placed on the grave on 19 December 1938, with response confirming wreath placed on grave and providing brief description of the condition of the grave. Request from next of kin for a wreath to be placed on the grave on 19 December 1939, with response from the Commission confirming this was carried out in accordance with the next of kin’s wishes. Request dated 17 October 1940 from next of kin for a wreath to be placed on the grave with response from the Commission explaining it was not possible to do this nor obtain any authentic reports of the condition of war cemeteries at that time during the Second World War.
