Description
Correspondence regarding the isolated grave of Second Lieutenant Cobbold at a point near Bapaume and Lesboeufs, with later confirmation that no body was found upon exhumation and the cross was moved to a Memorial Cross plot. Later correspondence concerns news that two wooden crosses were made at the time of Cobbold's death and the outcome of another search where no body was found. Two letters from each of the casualty's siblings asking for particulars of the location of his burial/memorial.

Includes: Letter from Captain J.E. Nichols (friend of the casualty in the same unit) describing the burial area, dated 5 May 1922. Letter from casualty's brother enquiring into location of the memorial where Lieutenant Cobbold is commemorated, dated 6 Apr 1955.
