Bombardier CHARLES ROBERT GRIMWOOD - SERAIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION - Royal Garrison Artillery
The wife of the casualty, Mrs Edith Grimwood, requested the particulars of her husband's grave. The casualty was later exhumed and reburied at Serain Communal Cemetery Extension, because of a resolved case of mistaken identity resulting from the misplacement of the original wooden markers. The Commission apologised to Mrs Grimwood in a letter for the situation.
Includes: Handwritten letters from Mrs Edith Greenwood, and a letter attributing the switched grave markers to a "drunken Frenchman".
