Captain HENRY ERNEST CHAPMAN - POZIERES MEMORIAL - Royal Horse Artillery
Letters from Major A.E. Wardrop and Mrs Chapman (the casualty's mother) asking the Commission for the location of Captain Chapman's grave, asking that identification details be sent to the DGR&E in France. However, several lines of investigation were pursued, including German records, and the Commission was unable to locate his grave, leading to his commemoration on the Pozieres Memorial.
Includes: Handwritten letter from Mrs Chapman describing her son's physical appearance.
