February-March 1934. Copy letter signed by Director of Works explaining that Private Marshall's grave was one of three lairs and a private memorial had been erected to him over the centre lair, dated 14 March 1934. Copy letter signed by Deputy Director of Works E.H. Jarvis describing the inscription on the private memorial with a small sketch of the memorial and the Commission stone to show the scale, dated 5 May 1934.
