Description
Confirmation of death of Bombardier Godfrey from wounds from the War Office. Request from casualty’s widow for a photograph of Bombardier Godfrey’s grave with further request for the repatriation of his remains to be buried in a cemetery in the United Kingdom. Later correspondence from casualty’s widow requesting a personal inscription on Bombardier Godfrey’s headstone and particulars of the grave location in advance of visit to the grave with her son. Later request from casualty’s widow for the return of the wooden cross originally erected over the grave with reply from the Commission that this would not be possible as the relatives of the other soldier commemorated on the cross would have equal claim. Letter from widow notifying Commission of change of address.
