Description
File of correspondence concerning the grave of Gunner Alfred Erica Ellis in Plymouth (Efford) Cemetery, United Kingdom. Main topic is the arrangements with the next of kin for the maintenance of Gunner Ellis's grave which was marked by a private memorial (marble cross) and therefore the Commission was unable to accept responsibility for maintaining this. Further correspondence addressed to W.J. Ellis, the casualty's father, explaining the kerbs surrounding the grave had broken and sunk, requesting for permission for the Commission to remove the broken kerbs and have the grave laid to level turf for ease of maintenance.
