File of correspondence concerning the joint grave in Otley (Newall-with-Clifton and Lindley) Cemetery, United Kingdom, in which two brothers, Driver F. Bottomley and Stoker Petty Officer Joseph Henry Bottomley who died on 17 April 1925, were buried. Main topics include correspondence regarding the erection of a wooden cross over the grave of Driver Bottomley, who died in Queen Mary’s Military Hospital, Whalley, as well as a request from the next of kin to include Stoker Petty Officer Bottomley’s name on the headstone of his brother Driver Bottomley. Correspondence with next of kin confirming the details of Stoker Petty Officer Bottomley and that these would be added to Driver Bottomley’s headstone.

Includes: Handwritten letter from the mother of Driver Bottomley expressing approval for the DGRE to erect a wooden cross over the grave and that she believed her son would be the first war casualty to buried in the cemetery having died from being gassed on 5 April 1918, undated.
