COMMISSION MEETING NO.58 - Sep 1923
Choice of wording on special memorials referring to both British and Dominion dead; finance committee business; use of cruciform headstones by Admiralty to be followed by Commission; grant of site at Walcot Cemetery, Bath; renewal of appointment of Secretary General, IWGC Canadian Agency; approval of special inscription re donation of land for Orchard Dump Cemetery; new members for Anglo-Egyptian Committee; authority to prepare agreement with J. Stevenson re memorials to native African troops in Kenya and Tanganyika; extra costs at New Moschi Cemetery, Kenya; approval of treatment of cemeteries in East Africa; removal of British graves from Darmstadt to Niederzwehren; refusal by participating governments to support scheme for supplying photographs to next of kin; recommendation of Battle Exploits Memorial Committee; staff appointments; requests that Commission maintain isolated graves where permission to concentrate was refused by next of kin, and for contribution to privately erected war cross; refusal of controversial personal headstone inscription; approval of scheme to commemorate Newfoundland missing in Newfoundland; request from Office of Works that Commission take over cemeteries containing non-war graves abroad.
