COMMISSION MEETING NO.53 - Feb 1923
Criticism of Commission's policy of employing some non-British construction labour; finance committee business; appointment of new member of Anglo-Egyptian Committee; grant of grave sites by Danish church authorities, and Southend Corporation; approval of architectural treatment of war graves in Harefield Churchyard; approval of designs for cemeteries at Paris, and at Meerut Military Cemetery; authority to consider tenders for Hazebrouck communal cemetery; treatment of isolated graves and cemeteries, and of memorials to missing, in Asia Minor (Turkey); search for graves and acquisition of land in Iraq; staff appointments; reconsideration of site for Egyptian Labour and Camel Transport Corps memorial; approval of design for Taveta cemetery, Kenya; design of cemetery walls; approval of controversial personal headstone inscription. Notes for the Vice-Chairman re meeting include references to controversial personal headstone inscriptions proposed by relatives.
