The Chairman welcomed Admiral Sir Frank Twiss, who had been appointed, by Royal Warrant dated 29 May, to succeed Admiral Grantham as a member of the Commission; The Chairman welcomed Mr R M Miller, Deputy High Commissioner for New Zealand; The Chairman reported that Mr Frank Boyle was unable to be present.

Announcement of the death of Mr Campbell Moodie who had represented the High Commissioner for Canada at Meetings of the Commission from 1957 to 1960.

Announcement of the election of Mr W F W Harding, the Commission's Chief Horticultural Officer, as a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London; Announcement that her Majesty the Queen had appointed Mr Keith Proctor, Works Officer, Anzac Agency for the Pacific Region an MBE in the Birthday Honours List 1970.

Matters Arising from the Minutes of the 500th Meeting of the Commission Including an update on Baghdad (Right Bank) Indian Forces War Cemetery, where the work of exhumation and reburial had been completed without incident or publicity; Report of the 540th Meeting of the Finance Committee, including an update on the proposed increase in wages for UK based staff.

Adoption of the Report of the 541st Meeting of the Finance Committee Update on the planned new Head Office building at Maidenhead, and proposed maintenance to the brickwork at Thiepval Memorial.

Appointment of Admiral Sir Frank Twiss KCB DSC to Membership of the Finance Committee.

Commonwealth-Foreign Joint Committees: Appointment of Members. Graves not within the Commission’s Control – United Kingdom Approval of the classification as not within the Commission's control of the 1,403 war graves

enumerated in List No 23 of war graves in the United Kingdom recommended for classification as "not within the Commission's control", submitted by the Secretary and signed by him on each page for identification.

Unmaintainable Graves, United Kingdom: Walton-On-The-Naze (All Saints) Churchyard Extension Approval of the proposal to commemorate 2 Commonwealth war burials in Walton-on-the-Naze (All Saints) Churchyard Extension, Essex on special memorial headstones bearing suitable superscriptions, to be erected at the approach to the group of war graves in the same churchyard extension.

Unmaintainable Graves, United Kingdom: Highgate Cemetery, St. Pancras, London Approval of the proposal to commemorate 5 Commonwealth war burials in Highgate Cemetery, St Pancras, London, by the inscription of their names on the existing screen wall in the cemetery.

War Graves in Switzerland Approval of the proposal to remove one Commonwealth war burial from Davos Platz (Wald) Communal Cemetery, Switzerland, to Vevey (St Martin's) Cemetery, Switzerland.

Execution of Documents Approval and confirmation of the action taken for the execution by the Commission or on its behalf of the documents, Serial Nos Part 11 60 and 61, referred to in the Schedule laid before the Meeting and signed for identification by the Commission's Legal Adviser &Solicitor.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission Superannuation Scheme (1952) Amendments to the Rules Agreement that the Trustees of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Superannuation Scheme (1952) are authorised and requested to make amendments to the rules of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Superannuation Scheme (1952).

Hadra and Chatby War Memorial Cemeteries, Alexandria Update on Hadra and Chatby War Memorial Cemeteries, Alexandria, regarding the question of removing these cemeteries in Alexandria, in order to make way for urban development, which had first been raised in 1961.

Report on Fifth Meeting of the Commonwealth-Belgian Joint Committee, including an update on the protection of the cemeteries and memorials and their surroundings from local development.
