Matters Arising from the 471st Meeting of the Commission
Details of Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Longmore’s visit to war cemeteries in France and attendance at the memorial service for Sir Hubert Worthington, former Principal Architect for the Commission; request from the Chairman for participating Governments to reply to the proposed change in the Chairmanship of the Commission.

Report of the 514th Meeting of the Finance Committee
Consideration of the Superannuation Scheme Accounts, which were to form part of the Annual Report.

44th Annual Report of the Commission and Statement of Accounts for the Year Ended 31 March 1963
Details of expenditure relating to the First and Second World Wars; explanation of the Summary of Receipts and Payments, which included information about the expenditure and total receipts for general purposes; details of expenditure on Agency work, which had been divided into special expenditure on behalf of the United Kingdom Government, expenditure on behalf of other Participating Governments, expenditure of other Governments included in the maintenance of German war graves in Commonwealth and foreign countries, and expenditure on behalf of other authorities for the maintenance of Battle Exploit Memorials and non-war cemeteries and graves; adoption of the Accounts by the Commission.

Other Business
Announcement regarding the Vice-Chairman’s Remembrance Day Broadcast; account of the Chairman’s visit to Cassino War Cemetery, Anzio War Cemetery, Beach Head War Cemetery and the American War Cemetery at Nettuno; report on Mr David Griffiths’ visit to 23 cemeteries in the Northern Region, including Schoonselhof Cemetery, Bergen-op-Zoom Canadian War Cemetery, Arnhem War Cemetery and Niederzwehren Cemetery, Kassel; details of the Secretary’s visit to the Northern Region, which included an assessment of the work of the mobile groups, visit to Ypres in connection with administrative problems and impressions of the “stitch in time” works maintenance that had been introduced by the Director of Works.

Signposting of Cemeteries
Discussion concerning the use of signs to indicate the presence of Commonwealth war cemeteries and memorials, with specific reference to issues with the suitability of the proposed designs in France.

The Commission’s Accounts
Comment from Mr P.A.K. Manton praising the manner in which the accounts were presented and explained as well as the Finance Committee’s report was produced.
