Report of the 494th Meeting of the Finance Committee
Appointment of one member of staff to the Permanent Maintenance Staff; expenditure for the supply and erection of Botticino headstones in North Africa; expenditure for the re-alignment of 641 headstones at Longuenesse (St. Omer) Souvenir Cemetery; costs relating to the binding of the three Parts of Volume IV of “Their Name Liveth”; revisions in the rates of pay of the Commission’s United Kingdom based manual grades in the United Kingdom, Northern and Southern Regions; appointment of Mr Gibson as Chief Accountant in succession to Mr Taylor, who was to become Deputy Regional Director of Northern Region.

Commonwealth-Foreign Joint Committees
Appointment of General d’Armee Andre Demetz as French Honorary Member of the Commonwealth-French Joint Committee; appointment of His Excellency Signor Pietro Quaroni, Italian Abassador at London, as Italian Honorary Member of the Commonwealth-Italian Joint Committee.

Approval of the revised sketch design by Mr R. Hobday, FRIBA, for Ambon War Cemetery and the Ambon Memorial with details about the preliminary estimates for construction.

Banking Facilities in Egypt
Arrangements for the re-opening of the Commission’s banking account in Egypt with the Bank of Alexandria.

Ibadan Military Cemetery, Western Region, Nigeria
Agreement for the lease of the land forming the site of Ibadan Military Cemetery for a term of 99 years at a nominal rent.

General Notes
Details of ceremonies held in Normandy on the anniversary of D-Day; attendance by Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Longmore at the unveiling and dedication ceremony for a Memorial Statue to Marshal of the Air Force The Viscount Trenchard.
