The Chairman thanked Dr A. J. R. van Rhijn for his work during tenure as High Commissioner for the Union of South Africa.

Announcement regarding the return of Brigadier Sultan Mohammed, who had represented the High Commissioner for Pakistan at Commission Meetings, to Karachi.

Announcement regarding the development of the area surrounding the Malta Memorial, which had been converted into a car park with gardens.

Estimates 1961/1962
Memorandum on the Estimates, with specific reference to the progression of estimates and expenditure, the slight decrease in expenditure for 1959-1960 due to delays on property transactions, construction and major rehabilitation, revised estimate for 1960-1961, estimate for 1961-1962 and the provision of funds for 1961-1962.

Report of the 487th Meeting of the Finance Committee
Maintenance at Bancourt British Cemetery under the contract with Entreprise Reynes; discussion regarding the treatment of headstones located in North Africa with bitumen and silicone, and proposed use of Botticino stone where replacement headstones were required; appointment of seven staff members to the Permanent Maintenance Staff; cost for the erection of a workshop and store in Rome War Cemetery for the Italy Area; expenditure for the printing and publishing of Cemetery and Memorial Registers of the Second World War; provision for the vehicle replacement programme; rates of pay and allowances with the employment of staff during 1961-1962.

Arrangements for the removal and transfer of First World War graves from Baghdad (Right Bank) Indian War Cemetery to Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery.

Agreement relating to the tenure of land forming the site of the Phoenix Memorial, Mauritius.

Report of the 32nd Annual Meeting of the South African Agency
Update on the inspection of scattered graves in municipal cemeteries and in local farm burial grounds; details of the Director-General’s forthcoming visit to the South African Agency; transfer of the Agency office from Pretoria to Bloemfontein.
