Report of the 466th Meeting of the Finance Committee
Maintenance at Bouilly Cross Roads Military Cemetery and Avesnes-sur-Helpe Communal Cemetery under contract with Entreprise Reynes; maintenance work at Etaples Military Cemetery and Ligny St. Flochel British Cemetery under directly employed labour; installation of water supply at Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery; purchase of property for the Netherlands and Germany Area Office; erection of the Cremation Memorial in Phaleron War Cemetery; provision of resident gardeners’ quarters at Benghazi War Cemetery and Kinghtsbridge (Acroma) War Cemetery; printing and publishing of cemetery and memorial registers; introduction of revised rates of allowances in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany, and scales of salary for non-manual grades in the United Kingdom and overseas Regions.

Appointment of Monsieur Francis Seydoux, French Ambassador at Bonn, as French Honorary Member of the Commonwealth-German-French Joint Committee; appointment of Monsieur Edgard van Houte, Directeur-General Ministere de l’Interieur, and Monsieur Joseph Elnick, Inspecteur-General, Ministere des Finances, as Belgian Official Members of the Commonwealth-Belgian Joint Committee; appointment of Nai Likhit Satyayuth, Governor of the Princes of Kanchanaburi, as Thai Member of the Commonwealth-Thailand Joint Committee.

Unmaintainable Graves in the United Kingdom – Tottenham Park Cemetery, North London
Approval for the proposed removal of headstones marking war graves in Tottenham Park Cemetery and re-erection of these and an additional ten headstones commemorating burials in common graves in a Memorial Garden near the cemetery’s entrance.

Purchase of site for Office Premises- Southern Region – No.4 Via Cornelio Celso, Rome
Report of the purchase of the site for the Southern Regional Headquarters and Italy Area;

Progress Report detailing the Commission’s work and reports from Regions and Agencies for the Quarter Ended 31st December 1958, including progress for the preparation of entries for the Registers and Final Index and the transfer of staff from Brussels to Arras following the amalgamation of the two Regions;

General Notes
Authorisation given to Brigadier Croxton Sillery Vale to complete the purchase of the premises for the Netherlands and Germany Area Office; permission for the London County Council to affix a plaque to 32, Grosvenor Gardens in commemoration of F. E. Smith, Earl of Birkenhead; account of visit by Edward Maufe to Rome War Cemetery and cemeteries at Catania, Syracuse, Agira; details of visit by W. Wynne Mason to Christiansborg Military Cemetery, Ibadan Military Cemetery, Kaduna Military Cemetery and Tripoli War Cemetery, and discussions with government officials in West Africa and Tripoli to promote goodwill and interest.
