Report of the 389th Finance Committee meeting Item 1 said that in the course of Brigadier Obbard's recent visit the Director of Works had been able to revise the schedule of permissible construction costs in the India, Pakistan and South East Asia District. Item 3 said that the sculpture of the bronze eagle for the Air Forces Memorial in Malta had been entrusted to Mr Charles Wheeler, R.A. Item 4 summarised adjustments in the staff of the Works Department so that they could more readily undertake the work which lay ahead. Item 5 indicated the additions to rates of pay which had just been brough into operation in the Civil Service were being applied to the Commission's staff in the United Kingdom and overseas. Item 17 referred to the construction of Gauhati War Cemetery in India. Item 19 showed that the contract for the bronze name panels for the Naval Memorial at Portsmouth had now been let. Item 23 that major maintenance work to 31 out of 49 cemeteries and memorials of the 1914-1918 War in the French District had been completed at a total cost within the amount authorised.
The Commission’s 32nd Annual Report Mentions that proof copies were circulated and suggestion that there be a mention of the death of King George VI included in the report.
