Approval and signing of 334th Commission meeting minutes

b) Publication of 31st Annual Report on Wednesday 21 March 1951.

Stained glass windows at Notre Dame de Lorette
Refers to arrangements made with Mr E.R. Payne, son of the maker of the original stained-glass windows at Notre Dame de Lorette, to repair the windows which were damaged by enemy action during the Second World War.

Death of Major-General T.R. Williams, C.M.G., D.S.O.,
Mention of death of Major-General T.R. Williams who had been Chief Administrative Officer for the Commission's Eastern District from July 1943 to January 1947.

Death of Mr A.J. Dix
Mention of the death of Mr Dix who was the Commission's Inspector for the Western District of the United Kingdom for many years until his retirement in 1948.

1914-1918 Cathedral Tablets
Refers to replacement of 1914-1918 cathedral tablets in Boulogne and Rouen.

Report of the 379th Finance Committee meeting
Items 1 and 2 indicated a general readjustment of salaries following similar adjustments in the United Kingdom Civil Service.
Item 3 concerned increases in rates of pay and allowances for certain grades of staff in the French, North-West European, and Southern European Districts.
Item 6 indicated that a good start had been made in the arrangements for cleaning the headstones in France.
Item 8 covered the authority to the Secretary to sanction and incur any necessary expenditure up to a total of £500 on a single item.
Item 17 contained a recommendation that Crosses of Sacrifice for cemeteries in Holland should be made by a Dutch contractor.
Item 18 dealt with a contract for fifty bronze name panels for the extension of the Royal Naval Memorial, Chatham, and for the supply of an enclosing fence to ensure its protection.

Item 23 dealt with the stained-glass windows for Notre Dame de Lorette.
Item 24 concerned an initial expenditure of £970 in connection with the concentration and marking of graves in Spain.

Mention of report circulated regarding the Secretary Brigadier Higginson’s recent tour of Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Canadian Agency
Discussion regarding transfer of the Commission’s Canadian Agency from the Minister of National Defence to the Minister of Veterans’ Affairs.

Chairman’s tour of cemeteries in South-Western, Western, and Midland Districts of the United Kingdom District.
Progress of the Garden of Rest in Chester Cemetery.
Report received from His Majesty’s Consul in Oslo on the graves in the local district there.
