Approval and amendment of 330th Commission meeting minutes

d) Difficulties facing the Commission at Jerusalem War Cemetery.

Extension of appointment of Secretary to the Commission
Mention that the Commission’s President H.R.H. The Duke of Gloucester had approved the extension of the appointment of Brigadier Frank Higginson as the Commission’s Secretary.

Chief Administrative Officer, North-West European District
Mention of appointment of Major H.W. Foster as Chief Administrative Officer for North-West European District.

Report of the 375th Finance Committee meeting
Items 11 and 12 referred to construction in Australia.
Item 19 recommended the appointment of an Area Superintendent in West Africa.
Item 21 indicated that construction was progressing in Belgium.
Item 22 dealt with major maintenance repair work in France
Item 26 referred to the Imperial War Graves Endowment Fund Balance Sheet

Report of the 23rd meeting of the South African Agency
Refers to the report presented to the Meeting, with particular mention that the primary type of stone to be used in South Africa for headstones would be grey granite.

Memorials to the Missing – 1939-1945 – Land Forces- Campaign in France, Belgium and Holland
Mention that the Chairman would write to the participating governments regarding the matter of Memorials to the Missing of the 1939-1945 War Land Forces participating in the Campaign in France, Belgium and Holland 1939-1940.

Examination of sketch design for cemetery construction by Philip D. Hepworth, F.R.I.B.A., Principal Architect for North-West Europe, for Mook War Cemetery, The Netherlands.

Examination of sketch designs for cemetery construction by Louis de Soissons, A.R.A., Principal Architect for Italy and Greece, for Faenza War Cemetery and Arrow Route War Cemetery, Florence, Italy.

Mill Road Cemetery, Thiepval
Discussion regarding replacement of Stone of Remembrance at Mill Road Cemetery, Thiepval, as the previous one had disintegrated.

Purchase of stock – Battle Exploit Memorials
Resolution for the purchase of Treasury Stock to pay for the income for the maintenance of the memorials to the 43rd Division at Esquay-Notre Dame, France, and 6th Battalion, The Gordon Highlanders, at Anzio, Italy.

Over 300,000 visitors to the cemeteries in the Commission’s North-West European District, including over 150,000 visitors to Arnhem Cemetery; Arranged visits to war graves overseas and in the United Kingdom.

Graves in Irish Republic
Refers to discussions with the Government of the Irish Republic regarding the placing of headstones on graves of 1939-1945 War in the Republic of Ireland.

Commonwealth-French War Graves Agreement
Refers to efforts to levy a tax in the clause of the agreement.
