Reports presented on: letter received from H.M. The King regarding the Chairman’s visit to Australia and New Zealand; the reburial of Italian graves into Jerusalem War Cemetery;

Recent commemorations on the ‘German Day for the Commemoration of Heroes’ in Berlin (Stahnsdorf Cemetery), London (Potter’s Bar) and Staffordshire (Cannock Chase Military Cemetery). British military and/or Commission representation at all three events.

Visitor numbers were reported on, and the subject of staff salaries following changes to the exchange rate with the Belgian Franc.

Subject of German graves in British Cemeteries in France discussed. Current situation was that the Commission cared for them on behalf of the French Government who were responsible for their upkeep. Existing wooden crosses now in a very bad state. Commissioners approved expenditure of £140 to cover their repair.

Report from visit of General Sir Archibald Montgomery-Massingbird to various cemeteries in Egypt and Palestine.

Report of the 240th meeting of the Finance Committee
Proposal which the Commissioners agreed to provide a sum of money (FFR 2,000) for Jubilee celebrations in France and Belgium.

Anglo-French Mixed Committee
Resolution for the approved appointment of Médecin Général Morvan to the Committee to succeed Médecin Général Inspecteur Rouvillois.

Discovery And Reburial Of Bodies In France And Belgium
A reduction of 50% in the count of bodies found and reburied in France and Belgium was reported but it was agreed that this was no indication of future figures.

Anglo-Egyptian War Cemeteries Executive Committee
Resolution for the establishment of Anglo-Egyptian War Cemeteries Executive Committee was formally approved. [This subject appears in the minutes but has been manually crossed out and annotated ‘Omit’].

Transfer Of Memorial Sites: Belgium Canadian Government Sites
Following visit of Mr J. Read, K.C. of the Ministry of External Affairs in Ottawa the meeting agreed a proposal covering the transfer of Canadian Memorial Sites in Belgium to the Canadian Government.

General Fund For Care And Maintenance Of The Graves Of The Fallen
Report that the small fund from donations from the public now amounted to £2350 and it was proposed and agreed to pay into an investment account to accrue a higher rate of interest.
