Previous minutes accepted with modifications to the Chair’s account of his visit to Australia and New Zealand. Welcome expressed to Sir Harry Knox, the new Adjutant -General and letter from his predecessor was read.

Death of Captain Sheppard, a member of the Commission’s staff in London was announced. Also, death of Mr Lumsden, the Travelling Superintendent Gardener in France.
Report of Lord Galway’s visit to the Western Front prior to his return to New Zealand. Further discussion about future visits Dominion representatives to the forthcoming Jubilee celebrations. Dominion representatives asked to ensure as much notice is given to help arrange similar tours.

Discussion about the possibility of reduced interest earned from the Endowment Fund. Commission reassured by letter from the Secretary of the Trustees, Sir Herbert Ellissen.

Report of the 238th and 239th meetings of the Finance Committee
Of note were the reproduction of the Tablet to the Million Dead which are to be sent to New Zealand and Australia, with pictures of the Tablet to certain museums and Returned Soldiers Associations.

Delegation Of Financial Powers To Vice-Chairman
Formal resolution to delegate financial powers to the Vice-Chairman was approved.

Anglo-Palestine War Cemeteries Executive Committee
Commission approved Mr B. Chaikin’s appointment to the Anglo-Palestine War Cemeteries Executive Committee on the departure of Mr Sacher.

Staff Of The Commission
Termination of the appointment of Capt. J. S. Parker and replacement by Commander P. H. Mackenzie as the Superintendent, Horticultural Branch.

Discovery And Reburial Of Bodies In France And Belgium
Review and comparison between the first six weeks of 1935 and 1934, where 182 bodies were found in 1935 compared to 357 in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Anglo-Egyptian War Cemeteries Executive Committee
A Committee to be set up to consider the difference of opinion which had arisen with the Anglo-Egyptian War Cemeteries Executive Committee and to ensure the Commission’s interests in Egypt are maintained.
