Meeting chaired by Sir George Macdonogh as Sir Fabian Ware was accompanying Dr. Skelton (the Chairman of the Economic Consultation and Co-operation Committee) on a visit to France. Sir Fabian wrote to thank Sir George for taking over the chair of the meeting. Mr Murphy welcomed to his first meeting. Sir Cecil Romer appointed to the Commission. Report of wreath laying in the British Cemetery in Stahndsdorf by a German organisation and in the British Cemetery in Windhoek by Prince Hubertus of Prussia and Prince Frederich of Mecklenburg. A generous response was reported to the request for books and periodicals for use by Commission staff in France.

Report Of The 220th Meeting Of The Finance Committee
Mention that the Commission had been giving exchange compensation to the staff in France and Belgium since the UK came off the gold standard. This would continue for a month, but the Commission was looking for economies and planned to reduce the emoluments of some gardeners. To this end, meetings with representatives were planned.

Report Of The 2nd Meeting Of The Education Committee
Refers to the proposal to close the Commission’s school in Arras due to wide geographical spread of children. Also discusses proposal to five support to send children above the age of 11 to school in the United Kingdom. Funding limited to £300, and progress would be reviewed after a year.

Appointment Of Australian Representatives Of The Finance Committee
Refers to the ratification and confirmation of the appointment of the Right Honourable Stanley M. Bruce to the Finance Committee on the retirement of Major-General Sir Granville de Laune Ryrie.

Fatal Accident At Vis-en-Artois Memorial
Following a fatal accident at the Vis-en-Artois Memorial all parties had agreed to the placement of the memorial plaque for Monsieur Frémery who was also President of the Lille Branch of “Au Feu”, a national association of ex-firemen.

Amara Screen Wall
Plans were discussed for the headstones and memorial in the Amara Cemetery, Iraq. The nature of the soil made headstones impractical, so pegs were planned instead. Also, a screen wall inscribed with the names of the dead. Plans had been approved by Sir Edwin Lutyens, and the Commission approved the work subject to financial approval.

Concentration Of Isolated Graves In France And Belgium
The number of bodies found in isolated graves was reported on. Major Chettle told the meeting how they could be identified using discs, badges etc if present.

Photos of cemeteries taken recently in France to show spring flowers in bloom were circulated.
