DescriptionThe archive consists almost exclusively of files of administrative papers which originated in the head office of the Commission. It does not contain any systematic record of the work of the Commission's overseas agencies in the former Dominions, Crown Colonies or India, although there is a small amount of correspondence with these organisations. Most files are from the Commission's general filing system. They contain incoming, outgoing and internal correspondence, reports and papers concerning the work of all departments. The material dates mainly from the period 1917-1967, but there are also items dealing with events of the later 1960s and 1970s.
