DescriptionCollection of photographs and negatives relating to the career of Gilbert Gordon Harry Cook, Area Superintendent for the Bayeux Area, France (1946 - 1953) and Albert Area (1953 - 1972) and later Regional Horticultural Officer. Images show aspects of Gilbert's work, social and home life, and include images of Commission cemeteries, other Commission staff members, and various staff social events.

Content NoteIncludes: 1) miniature (homemade?) photo album containing 30 prints mainly showing trees in CWGC cemeteries, c. 1964; 2) collection of 18 prints taken of an Imperial War Graves Commission staff and family sports day held in France, c. 1953; 3) collection of 16 photos mainly relating to Normandy and ceremonies held in Commission cemeteries in that area in period 1946-47, including images of Hermanville and Ranville War Cemeteries, but also including photo of Gilbert Cook's residence; 4) 2 prints of a house and garden, either 19 or 25 Rue Jean Guyan, Albert, France, one time CWGC Office (ground floor) and also residence of the Cook family (first floor and attic), with one showing Gilbert Cook and his son Philip at work in the garden, September 1955; 5) collection of 11 prints and one negative mainly of Commission employees, including Charles Davidson Jack and another employee identified as 'Jo', 1950's; 6) miscellanous collection of 21 prints showing various images of IWGC staff, including group shot of staff outside their offices in St. Aubin-sur-Mer, May 1946, staff attending dinner on Coronation Day, 1953, staff from Normandy or Albert attending Christmas Party in the 1950's, and various images of Gilbert Cook and his home garden; 7) print of three Commission gardeners with wreath at Westminster Abbey, 8) print of Gilbert Cook and William Francis Winton Harding; 9) 3 small boxes of negative film, 1 small cannister of negative film, 2 loose rolls of film and one slide
