Content NoteItems include: 1) photocopy of letter from the War Office to the Controller, IWGC, authorising Commission staff members Major G.W.A. Kayser, Major G.G.H. Cook and Major A. Hunter to be allowed to wear their military uniform with badges while specifically employed with the IWGC outside of the UK, 19th June 1946; 2) French driving licence for Gilbert Cook, 17th December 1946; 3) Gilbert Cook's Imperial War Graves Commission 'carte de service' identity card , 3rd December 1947; 4) typed lyrics to 'The Commission Song', an irreverent song about working for the War Graves Commission, composed by 'H.E.H.' (possibly Harold Eric Hickman) and sung at a staff annual dinner in Brussels in or around 1952; 5) photocopy of two letters to Gilbert Cook from CWGC Northern Region offering congratualtions for his recent award of the 'Medaille d'Honneur de la Ville d'Albert' (the town of Albert's Medal of Honour), 13th and 20th July 1966; 6) photocopies of 4 photographs of Gilbert Gordon Cook and Herbert Victor Vokes (his uncle, who also worked for the Commission and was one of the first Horticultural Officers); 7) typed letter to Gilbert Cook from Alan Chambers, who had recently retired from the CWGC from his role as District Horticultural Officer, concerning his new house in Spain and his gardening, March 1971; 8) handwritten work notes, presumably by Gilbert Scott, undated; 9) typed report on the Commission's administrative re-organisation in the Northern Region, France, 1971; 10) group letter to Gilbert Cook and other CWGC staff concerning the recent visit to St. Sever Cemetery by Her Majesty the Queen, 22nd June 1972; 11) hand written letter from Gilbert Cook to Winton Harding, CWGC Chief Horticultural Officer, expressing sadness that he had not been asked to tour round the cemetery sites in Normandy, and hoping to arrange a meeting with Harding during his imminent visit to cemeteries in the area, undated but likely 1972; 12) photocopy of article from the Southern Evening Echo concerning the career of Gilbert Cook, 1984; 13) letter from Charles Davidson Jack to Gilbert Cook (addressed as 'my dear Cookie', thanking him for his work in connection to the various ceremonies held in Commission cemeteries during the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, 13th July 1966.
