2. Expenditure in connection with Cemetery Registers Consideration of report from Finance Department regarding further expenditure for the cost of designing, printing, and binding Cemetery Registers. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £1000.
3. Tenders for constructional work to be carried out in Dalmeny Cemetery Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding constructional work at Dalmeny Cemetery, South Queensferry. Resolution to accept the tender of Messrs. Garden & Co. for constructional work at Dalmeny Cemetery for £639. 17s. 4d., to approve the expenditure of £35 for the cost of contingencies, and to approve the expenditure of £20 for the cost of a bronze sword to be affixed to the War Cross.
4. Tenders for constructional work to be carried out in Danygraig Cemetery, Swansea Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding work to be carried out at Danygraig Cemetery. Resolution to accept the tender of Mr W A Morris for the works for £414. 15s. 6d.; to approve the expenditure of a further sum of £35 for the cost of contingencies, and to approve the expenditure of £20 for the cost of a bronze sword to be affixed to the War Cross.
5. Tenders for constructional work to be carried out in Seaford Cemetery, Sussex Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding constructional work at Seaford Cemetery, Sussex. Resolution to accept the tender of Mr C F Bridgman for constructional work at Seaford Cemetery for £327. 12s. 2d., to approve the expenditure of £32 for the cost of contingencies, and to approve the expenditure of £20 for the cost of a bronze sword to be affixed to the War Cross.
6. Tenders for the supply of 22,830 headstones for Cemeteries in France and Belgium Consideration for report from Director of Works submitting tenders for the supply and engraving of 22830 headstones to be erected in France and Belgium. Resolution: to accept the tenders of the firms set out in schedules C.1 and C.2; to approve the expenditure of £45797. 18s. 5d. to meet the Commission’s liabilities under the contracts; to approve the expenditure of £9000 for the cost of transport from Dover Harbour to the Cemeteries named in the said contracts and contingencies; and to approve the expenditure of £3000 for the engraving of personal inscriptions pending the receipt of remittances from the next of kin concerned.
7. Construction of Egyptian Labour Corps Memorial Consideration of report from the Controller and Financial Adviser regarding the Memorial to the Egyptian Labour Corps and Camel Transport Corps. Resolution to inform the Egyptian Agency that the Commission are prepared to accept it as a Memorial to the Dead and Missing of the Egyptian Labour Corps and Camel Transport Corps, to ask the Egyptian Government to build the Laboratory to the design, the Commission undertaking to contribute £6600 towards its cost, and to request the Egyptian Agency to watch the building on behalf of the Commission. 8. Construction of Memorial to the Missing at Halifax, Nova Scotia Consideration of correspondence regard the proposed Memorial to the Missing to be erected at Halifax, Nova Scotia. Resolution to accept $22000 as the estimated total cost of the Memorial as the basis on which to call for tenders and to authorise the Finance Committee to accept tenders for the construction of the Memorial without further reference to the Commission, subject to the Vice-Chairman being satisfied that the use of granite is necessary for climatic or other reasons.
9. Purchase of stove for use at Arras Camp Consideration of report from Chief Accountant, France, regarding the purchase of a stove for use at the Arras Camp. Resolution to approve the expenditure of Francs. 600 on the purchase of an American stove for the Arras Camp.
10. Loss of gardening tools and stores, France Consideration of report from Chief Accountant, France, regarding the writing off of a sum, being the value of certain horticultural tools stolen from Cemeteries. Resolution to write off the sum of £27. 16s. 10d.
11. Salary of Chief Quantity Surveyor, France Consideration of report from Principal Assistant Secretary regarding the salary of the Chief Quantity Surveyor, France. Resolution to grant the Chief Quantity Surveyor, France, a personal salary of £650-25-750 from 20th February 1923.
12. Quantity Surveying Establishment, France Consideration of report from Principal Assistant Secretary regarding the appointment of additional staff to the Works Establishment, France. Resolution to approve the immediate appointment of two additional Junior Quantity Surveyors and two additional Quantity Surveyors Clerks, and the appointment of three additional Quantity Surveyors Typists (Technical).
13. Appointment of Principal Assistant, East Africa Consideration of report from Principal Assistant Secretary regarding appointment of additional Principal Assistant on the establishment of the Commission in East Africa. Resolution to approve the appointment of an additional Principal Assistant.
14. Salaries of the Commission’s staff in Egypt Consideration of letters from the Chairman, Anglo-Egyptian War Cemeteries Executive Committee regarding the salaries of the Commission’s staff in Egypt. Resolution that a letter in the terms of the draft submitted by the Secretary be sent to the Anglo-Egyptian War Cemeteries Executive Committee.
15. Salaries of the Commission’s Staff in Egypt Consideration of report from the Director of Works regarding the reorganisation of Works Department, London. Resolution: to approve the appointment of an Assistant Deputy Director of Works on the Establishment of Works, Department London; to grant the Deputy Director of Works, London, a personal salary of £1200 per annum; and to approve these appointments subject to the concurrence of the Treasury Representative in the rates of pay proposed.
16. Establishment, Works Department, London Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding the horticultural treatment of Brookwood Cemetery Military Plot. Resolution: to accept the tender of Messrs George Jackman and Son for the horticultural treatment of the plot for the sum of £399. 15s. 0d.; to approve the expenditure of £40 for the cost of contingencies; to approve the employment of 2 ex-soldier gardeners for the purpose of maintaining the plot; and to approve the expenditure of £50 for the cost of necessary tools, tool shed, and appliances for the use of the gardeners.
