3. Expenditure on constructional work and concentration of graves in East Africa Consideration of reports from Director of Works regarding the construction of cemeteries in East Africa. Resolution: to accept the tender of Messrs. Low Giddings for the supply of 7 war crosses for the sum of £770; to approve the expenditure of £406 for the cost of Bronze swards, differential blocks, and transport of the Crosses to their sites; to accept the tender of Messrs William Bain & Co, Ltd., for the supply of unclimbable fencing for 9 cemeteries for the sum of £1869.9s.0d.; to approve the expenditure of £700 for the cost of transport of the fencing; to approve the expenditure of £4582 for the cost of labour for the constructional work of erecting the crosses and fencing; to approve the expenditure of £168 for the cost of treatment of isolated graves as set out in Schedule B; to approve the expenditure of £1640 for the cost of concentration of burials according to Schedule C; and to approve the expenditure of £820 for the cost of contingencies.
4. Appointment of Personnel, East Africa Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding the appointment of additional personnel to the staff of the Commission in East Africa. Resolution to appoint the delineated staff.
5. Replacement of Crosses in France and Belgium – contract for supply of shafts and arms Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding the reconstruction of War Crosses in France and Belgium. Resolution: to accept the tender of Messrs Soille Freres for the supply of shafts and arms for 52 War Crosses Type A1, and shafts and arms for 9 war crosses Type A, for Frcs.64,140; to approve the expenditure of Fcs.73,525 for the cost of taking down and re-erecting 61 War Crosses; and to approve the expenditure of Fcs.7350 for the cost of contingencies.
6. Chemical treatment of headstones in France and Belgium Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding the preservation of headstones by chemical treatment. Resolution to adjourn the matter for a report to be obtained on the matter from Sir Frederic Kenyon.
7. Contract for headstone foundations and erection of headstones in Tyne Cot Cemetery, Passchendaele Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding the construction of headstone foundations in Tyne Cot Cemetery. Resolution to accept the tedner of Messrs D G Somerville & Co., Ltd., for the construction of headstone foundations, erection of headstones, inscribing of Plot and Row Stones in Tyne Cot Cemetery for Fcs.29660.45, and to approve the expenditure of Fcs.20,966 for the cost of contingencies.
8. Alteration to Main Personnel Camp, St Omer, France Consideration of report from Deputy Controller, France, regarding alterations and repairs to the huts of the main personnel camp, St Omer. Resolution to approve the expenditure of Frcs.30,755 for the cost of alterations and repairs to the huts, and to authorise the Deputy Controller to dispose of the huts declared to be superfluous.
9. Purchase of land in Plymouth Old Cemetery (Pennycomquick) Consideration of report from Land and Legal Adviser regarding the purchase of land in Plymouth Old Cemetery. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £300 for the cost of the purchase from the Cemetery Company the land necessary for the carrying into effect of the architectural treatment of the graves.
10. Purchase of land in Nunhead Cemetery Consideration of reports from Land and Legal Adviser and Director of Works regarding the purchase of land in Nunhead Cemetery. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £865 for the cost of the purchase of land necessary to carry out the scheme of architectural treatment of the graves in this cemetery approved by Sir Frederic Kenyon.
11. Contract for constructional work at Avonview, Canford, and Greenbank Cemeteries, Bristol Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding constructional work in Greenbank Cemetery, Avonview Cemetery, and Canford Cemetery. Resolution to accept the tender of Messrs Turvery and Perrin for constructional work in the cemeteries for £1044.3s.0d., to approve the expenditure of £60 for the cost of the supply and transport of 3 bronze swords to be affixed to the War Crosses, and to approve the expenditure of £100 for the cost of contingencies.
12. Claim by Mr Sudwell (next of kin of Pte W Sudwell, 2nd C L Royal Fusiliers) Consideration of report from Principal Assistant Secretary regarding an application from Mr Sudwell for compensation for expenses incurred owing to his having been given wrong information as to the location of the grave he wished to visit. Resolution to inform Mr Sudwell that the Commission could not accept responsibility for the expenses incurred, but were willing to contribute £5 towards his expenses if he wished to visit the grave within a reasonable period.
13. Write off of Losses on Exchange, Thefts from Cemeteries, and Pay Consideration of letters from Deputy Controller, France, and Finance Department, London, requesting authority to write off certain losses in the books of the Commission. Resolution to write off losses on pay, theft of tools, and loss on exchange 1921/22 as stated.
14. Administrative Expenditure, Gallipoli Consideration of report from Deputy Director of Works, Gallipoli, regarding the administrative expenses of the Commission on the Gallipoli Peninsula. Resolution to recommend the expenditure of £5100 for the period 1st October 1922 to 31st March 1923.
15. Administrative Expenditure, Macedonia Consideration of letter from Deputy Director, Works, Macedonia, regarding the administrative expenses of the Commission in the area. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £2655 for the three months October to December 1922.
16. Administrative Expenditure, Palestine Consideration of letter from Deputy Director of Works, Palestine, regarding the administrative expenses in the area. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £1240 for the quarter ending 31st December 1922.
17. Re-organisation of Administration, Italy Consideration of report from the Financial Adviser regarding the re-organisation of the staff in Italy. Resolution: to abolish the delineated appointments from the 15th September 1922; to approve the appointments of an Area Superintendent and an Assistant Area Superintendent; to approve the expenditure of lire 289.970 for the cost of local Italian Gardeners in accordance with Schedule A; and to approve the delineated scale of renumeration to be paid for isolated graves in Italy
