2. Constructional work at Railway Wood, Zillebeke Consideration of letter from Director of Works and Resolution 10 of the 45th Meeting of the Commission referencing the erection of a Type A1 Cross in Railway Wood, Zillebeke. Resolution to approve the expenditure of Rcs.12,000 on erecting a Type A1 cross bearing the names of 12 members of the 177th Tunnelling Company, RE, and a further sum of Fcs.1200 to cover the cost of contingencies.
3. Menin Gate Memorial – trial hole for foundations Consideration of letter from Director of Works regarding sinking a trial hole for the foundations for the Menin Gate Memorial. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £1000 to sink the trial hole.
4. Gardening staff, France. Extra duty pay Consideration of letter from the Deputy Controller, France, regarding the issue of extra pay to Gardeners and Gardeners’ Labourers while acting temporarily as foremen or sub-foremen. Resolution that the Deputy Controller, France, be authorised for payment to 50 Gardeners or Gardeners’ Labourers of extra duty pay at 2/6d per week.
5. East Africa – expenditure to December 1922 Consideration of report from Finance Department with reference to the administrative expenses of the Commission in East Africa. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £2300 for the cost of administrative expenses in East Africa for the period from 1st July to 31st December 1922.
6. France – expenditure to 30th September 1922 Consideration of report from the Deputy Controller, France, regarding the administrative expenses of the Commission in France. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £35,500 for the cost of administrative expenses in France during the quarter ending 30th September 1922.
7. Mesopotamia – expenditure to 30th September 1922 Consideration of letter from Deputy Director of Works, Mesopotamia, with reference to the administrative expenses of the Commission in Mesopotamia. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £2500 for the cost of administrative expenses in Mesopotamia for the 6 months ending September 30th 1922.
8. Special authority for expenditure during august Consideration of letter from Finance Department regarding expenditure during the August adjournment of Commission Meetings. Resolution to recommend the expenditure of a sum not exceeding £10,000 for the purposes of the Commission for items in excess of the authority already given.
9. Write off of stores, France Consideration of correspondence with the Deputy Controller, France, regarding the writing off of an amount in respect of articles damaged by fire. Resolution that the sum of £146.8s.5d. be written off in respect of articles damaged by the fire at the Aerodrome Stores on 22nd October 1919.
10. Gloucester Cemetery – Headstones Consideration of letter from Deputy Director of Works, London, regarding the erection of headstones in Gloucester Cemetery. Resolution: to accept the tender of Messrs R L Boulton & Son for the supply, engraving, delivery and erection of 76 headstones in Gloucester Cemetery for a sum of £264; to approve the expenditure of £25 for the cost of contingencies; and to approve the expenditure of £30 for the cost of engraving personal inscriptions pending the receipt of remittances from the next of kin concerned.
11. Gloucester Cemetery – constructional work Consideration of Resolution 6 of the 42nd Meeting of the Commission together with letters from the Director of Works and Land and Legal Adviser regarding constructional work to be carried out at Gloucester Cemetery. Resolution: to accept the tender of Messrs T A King & Co for constructional and ground work in Gloucester Cemetery; to approve the expenditure of £20 for the cost of a Bronze Sword to be affixed to the War Cross; and to approve the expenditure of a further sum of £40 for the cost of contingencies.
12. Faslane Cemetery - constructional work Consideration of letter from Deputy Director of Works, London, with reference to the erection of headstones for Faslane Cemetery, Garelochead. Resolution: to accept the tender of Mr William Scott for the supply, engraving, delivery, and erection of 31 headstones in Faslane Cemetery for the sum of £166; to approve the expenditure of £16. 10s. 0d. for the cost of contingencies; to approve the expenditure of £20 for the cost of engraving personal inscriptions pending the receipt of remittances from the next of kin concerned; and to approve the expenditure of £46. 10s. 0d. for payment to Row Parish Council of fees for permission to erect the headstones.
13. Cardiff Cemetery – constructional work Consideration of letter from Deputy Director of Works, London, regarding the erection of headstones in the Military Plot in Cardiff Cemetery. Resolution: to accept the tender of Messrs. Mees and Richards for the supply, engraving, delivery, and erection of 167 headstones in the Military Plot at Cardiff for the cost of £620; to approve the expenditure of £62 for the cost of contingencies; and to approve the expenditure of £60 for the cost of engraving personal inscriptions pending the receipt of remittances from the next of kin concerned.
14. Headstones – Comely Bank Cemetery, Edinburgh Consideration of letters from Deputy Director of Works, London, and the Land and Legal Adviser regarding the supply and fixing of 52 Flat Stones in granite in Comely Bank Cemetery. Resolution: to accept the tender of Messrs. Bower and Florence for the supply, engraving, delivery and fixing of 52 Flat Stones in Granite over the graves of 167 soldiers in Comely Bank Cemetery for £904; to approve the expenditure of £90 for the cost of contingencies; and to approve the expenditure of £90 for the cost of engraving personal inscriptions pending the receipt of remittances from the next of kin concerned.
15. Constructional work – Warrington Cemetery Consideration of Resolution 7 of the 45th Meeting of the Commission and a letter from Director of Works with reference to constructional work in Warrington Cemetery. Resolution: to accept the tender of Messrs Bower and Florence for constructional work in Warrington Cemetery for £392; to approve the expenditure of £15 for the cost of affixing a Bronze Sword to the War Cross; to accept the tender of Messrs. Bower and Florence for the supply, engraving, delivery and erection of 74 headstones in Granite in Warrington Cemetery for the sum of £573; to approve the expenditure if £100 for the cost of contingencies; and to approve the expenditure of £60 for the cost of engraving personal inscriptions pending the receipt of remittances from the next of kin concerned.
16. Erection of headstones – Beersheba Consideration of letter from Director of Works regarding the erection of headstones in Beersheba Cemetery. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £E.850 for the erection of 1237 headstones at Beersheba Cemetery, and to approve the expenditure of £E.310 for transport from Port Said to Beersheba.
17. Indian Cemetery – Monastir Road Consideration of letter from Deputy Director of Works, London, regarding the construction of an Indian Memorial in Monastir Road Cemetery. Resolution to accept the tender of Messrs. Varouxakis for the construction of an Indian Memorial in Monastir Road Cemetery for £533, and to approve the expenditure of £55 for the cost of contingencies.
18. Boxes for Cemetery Registers – France Consideration of letter from Deputy Director of Works, London, regarding the supply of boxes to contain Cemetery Registers together with oak posts and chains. Resolution to approve the expenditure of Fcs.42,500 for the supply of 1000 Cemetery Register Boxes, oak posts, chains and fixings, and to approve the expenditure of Fcs.2000 for the cost of contingencies.
19. Maintenance – East Africa Consideration of cable from Deputy Director of Works, East Africa, regarding Cemetery repair and maintenance. Resolution to give authority to Deputy Director of Works, East Africa, to carry out at his discretion either of the two cemetery repair and maintenance schemes submitted by him, and to approve the expenditure of £400 on the first scheme or £625 on the second scheme.
20. DDW East Africa – Agreement Consideration of letter from Principal Assistant Secretary regarding the salary of Mr Cormack, Deputy Director of Works, East Africa. Resolution to increase the commencing salary of Mr Cormack from £850 to £900.
21. War Crosses in La Laiterie British Cemetery, France Consideration of letter from Director of Works regarding the substitution of a Type A cross in place of a Type A1 Cross in La Laiterie British Cemetery, France. Resolution to substitute the Type A Cross for a Type A1 Cross.
