Tenders for construction of cemeteries in Macedonia Consideration of report from Director of Works on the sole tender submitted for the construction of ten cemeteries in Macedonia by Mr Jean Varouxakis. Resolution: that, subject to conditions, the tender of Mr Varouxakis be accepted at the price of £36,259.7s.0d.; that the expenditure of a further sum of £3600 be approved for the cost of contingencies; and that the delineated sums also be approved for costs in connection with the construction of the cemeteries for work not included in Mr Varouxakis’ tender.
4. Tenders for the construction of Taranto Cemetery Consideration of report from Director of Works submitting tenders for constructional work to be undertaken at Taranto Cemetery, recommending the tender of Messrs E D Aroma of Taranto amounting to lire 166,455. Resolution that the tender of Messrs Aroma of Taranto be accepted, and that the expenditure of a further sum of lire 16000 be approved for the cost of contingencies.
5. Tenders for construction of Cemeteries in Egypt Consideration of report from Director of Works for tenders received for the construction of nine cemeteries in Egypt. Resolution: that, subject to conditions, the tender of Messrs E di A de Farro & Co. of St Davids Buildings 16, Sharia El Magrabi, Cairo, Egypt, be accepted at the price of £E41099; that a further sum of £E5101 be approved for the cost of contingencies; and that a further sum of £E3501 be approved for the cost of the supply and erection of War Stones in Minia Tel-el-Kabir and Suez Cemeteries.
6. Constructional work at Felixstowe New Cemetery and Walton Cemetery Consideration of letter from Director of Works requesting authority to proceed for constructional work to be carried out at Walton Cemetery and Felixstowe New Cemetery. Resolution: that the Finance Committee be authorised to accept a tender or tenders for work to be carried out at a total cost of £698.0s.0d, and that a further sum of £70 be approved for the cost of contingencies.
7. Concentration of graves into Gaza Cemetery, Palestine Consideration of letter from Principal Assistant Secretary requesting authority for the expenditure of certain monies to defray the cost of the removal and reburial in Gaza Military Cemetery of soldiers and sailors whose remains may be discovered in the neighbourhood of that cemetery. Resolution to recommend the expenditure of £1.10s.0d. per grave on the expenses of the removal to and reinternment in Gaza Military Cemetery of remains found in the neighbourhood.
8. Subsistence allowance for gardeners in France and Belgium Consideration of letter from Deputy Controller, France, stating that subsistence allowance for six-hundred-and-seventy gardeners had been authorised to date and requesting authority to issue it to a further two-hundred. Resolution authorising the payment of subsistence allowance to a further two-hundred gardeners in France and Belgium.
