DescriptionA scrapbook containing handwritten and typed reminscences, copies of correspondence, copies of photographs, and press cuttings related to the life and career of Hilary Wells. Wells worked as a stone engraver for Saunders Ltd. of Ipswich and carried out several contracts for engraving headstones and memorial panels on behalf of the Commission.

Content NoteThe scope of the scrapbook covers Wells's early years as an apprentice in 1948, his work in producing panels for the Falklands War Memorial in the 1980s, carving the headstone of Sergeant Ian John McKay VC, and his work engraving the Chindit Memorial on the Victoria Embankment.
