Administrative expenses of the Commission in Germany for the 6 months ending 31st December 1922 Consideration of report from Finance Department regarding the administrative expenses of the Commission in Germany. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £600 on administrative expenses of the Commission in Germany for the period 1st July to 31st December 1922. 5. Administrative expenses of the Canadian Agency of the Commission for the 6 months ending 30th September 1922 Consideration of report from Financial Department regarding the administrative expenses of the Commission in Canada. Resolution to approve the expenditure of £600 for the administrative expenses of the Canadian Agency for the period 1st April to 30th September 1922.
6. Additional expenditure on constructional work to be carried out in Lijssenthoek Cemetery Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding the erection of a low wall on the North East boundary of LIjssenthoek Cemetery. Resolution to recommend the expenditure of Francs 30,000.00 to on the erection of the wall.
7. Chemical treatment of headstones for the preservation of stone Consideration of report from Director of Works regarding the preservation of headstones by Chemical treatment. Resolution to approve the expenditure of Fcs.87070 on the treatment of 40,000 headstones.
8. Alterations to ½” model of Menin Gate Memorial required owing to modification of design Consideration of letter from Sir Reginald Blomfield requesting authority for further expenditure on the ½” scale model of the Menin Gate Memorial. Resolution to recommend the expenditure of £37.15.0. for the cost of making alterations to the model.
9. Salary of Deputy Director of Works, East Africa Consideration of report from Principal Assistant Secretary regarding the salary of the Commission’s Deputy Director of Works, East Africa. Resolution to recommend the Deputy Director of Works salary be fixed at a flat rate of £1,500 per annum.
10. Compassionate grant to widow of caretaker of Hadra War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt Consideration of letter from Chairman of the Anglo-Egyptian War Cemeteries Executive Committee regarding a grant from the Commission’s Compassionate Fund for the widow of Abdel Mejid Ibrahim, Head Gardener, Hadra War Memorial Cemetery, who died from septic poisoning contracted in the course of his duties. Resolution that Ibrahim’s widow be granted a gratuity of £E.60., and that the grant should be a charge of the Commission’s Compassionate Fund.
11. Tenders for supply of 15008 headstones for 27 cemeteries in France and Belgium Consideration of report from Director of Works submitting tenders received for the supply and engraving of 15, 008 headstones to be erected in cemeteries in France and Belgium. Resolution: to accept the tenders of the firms set out in Schedule E of the Director of Works’ report; to approve the expenditure of £36854.14s.11d. for the Commission’s liabilities under the contract; to approve the expenditure of £6000 for the cost of transport from Dover Harbour to the cemeteries and of contingencies; to approve the expenditure of £6000 for the cost of engraving personal inscriptions pending remittances from the next-of-kin concerned; and the headstones for Hinges Military Cemetery, Maple Leaf Military Cemetery, Maroc British Cemetery, and Dury Hill British Cemetery be allotted to Messrs. J C Langford.
